On HOOR, a virtuoso guitarist called Tony. Anthony (Tony) Cox (born 24 January 1954) is a Zimbabwean-born guitarist and composer based in Cape TownSouth Africa. A master of the fingerpicking style of guitar playing, he has won the SAMA (South African Music Awards) for best instrumental album thrice. His music incorporates many different styles including classical, blues, rock and jazz, while keeping an African flavour. Luckily I got hold of Tony in Knysna just before he immigrated to The UK

Cox was born in a small mining town called Redcliff in Rhodesia (present-day Zimbabwe). He began playing the guitar at the age of nine, learning Hawaiian guitar from Archie Perreira. After Tony and his family moved to Cape Town, he began to study classical guitar at the age of 19.

Had an interview with one of my favorite radio jocks with probably the most fascinatiing history in radio......CHRIS ä.k.a The Rock Professor" PRIOR.

He was born in Durban, grew up in Joburg at various boarding schools. He was in his late teens when the rock revolution took place, when bands like the Rolling Stones, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the Grateful Dead and a thousand others started making serious waves. The Beatles had just released “Sgt. Pepper’s”. It was a whole new world, and it captivated Chris and his friends. He started a serious vinyl collection and still have some of the vinyl bought in those days.

Hy is tans betrokke by die VETERANS FUND waar hy groot liefdeswerk doen. Besoek hul gerus en ondersteun hierdie inisiatief.  https://veteransaidfund.co.za/founders/

In 2017, he joined the main cast of The CW series The Flash, playing Clifford DeVoe / The Thinker.

Sandilands began his career in South Africa, his motherland, acting in a variety of projects, most notably in the television series 7de Laan as Bart Kruger beginning in 2000. He departed the show after seven years and moved to Los Angeles in 2007. Great interview with Derek Marks a South African musician and founder member of the super-group The Square Set. The Square Set was a 1960s rock band from Cape Town South Africa, known for their songs Silence is Golden (SA number 1 Hit (1967)) "Carol Corina" (SA number 10 hit (1968)), and "That's What I Want" (international number 1 hit in BrazilArgentina, and Portugal (1971-1972)).Derek Marks, has written a factual account of the music scene during the early '50s and '60s.

We also talked about his book "That's what I want", spanning over 5 decades, it tells his story of the pop world with all its trials, tribulations, lies, loves, promises, and fun times. Nostalgia will abound as the reader is transported into the past when Apartheid ruled its citizens. Their music was released internationally and received number one status in Africa, Brazil, Argentina and Portugal. Songs like ‘Silence is Golden’, ‘That’s What I Want’, Carol Carina can no longer be silenced. A well-written story is easy to read, from one of SA leading bass players.
